GIS MAP MANAGER: Data Contouring

Environmental professionals are often required to produce contour maps. Contouring of project data such as water levels or contaminant concentrations is an effective method of relating spatial distribution of data over a map. Since HydroGeo Analyst stores station data and various quantitive datum within its core, HydroGeo Analyst was designed with contouring tools that pull data directly from the source.

  • Quickly load and contour data from pre-defined HydroGeo Analyst queries
  • Contour concentrations for a defined time period
  • Contour concentrations for deep aquifers or shallow aquifers
  • Contour bedrock surface elevations
  • Contour moisture distribution of overburden
  • Contour water elevations for a defined time period
  • Contour water elevations for only the lower aquifer
  • Contour aquifer vulnerability index
  • Quickly load and contour data from any station data

  • Use color gradients to show distribution of the parameter over the Site

GIS MAP MANAGER: Thematic Mapping

HydroGeo Analyst offers thematic mapping functionality to help graphically display the distribution of a single attribute/characteristic or the relationship between several attributes. For environmental professionals, thematic maps are extremely useful in covering a wide variety of characteristics such as displaying the relationships between:

  • Wells with head elevations above or below ground surface
    (Artesian conditions)
  • Groundwater pumping volumes and precipitation
    (Recharge potential)
  • Layer thickness from ground surface to subsequent layers
    (Aggregate exploration)

The Cross-Section Editor is designed with easy-to-use tools for interpreting geological and hydrogeological data, as well as interpreting data for groundwater flow models. Generating model layers for use as modeling layer elevations in groundwater modeling packages such as Visual MODFLOW Pro had never been easier!

In addition, the Cross-Section Editor is seamlessly integrated with the HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer, a tool that combines and displays one or more cross-sections in a 3D fence diagram view!
The Cross-Section Editor allows for three types of data interpretations:

  1. Geologic Interpretations: layers representing unique geologic formations at the site
  2. Hydrogeologic Interpretations: layers representing hydrogeologic properties at the site (aquifer, confined aquifer, aquitard, aquiclude, etc)
  3. Model Interpretations: defined layers used in groundwater modeling

The Cross-Section Editor provides the following features:

  • Digitize geologic and hydrogeologic layers using the polygon
    draw tool
  • Select standard cross-section fill patterns from the Geology
    Layer Pattern tool
